Many pathogenic free living and biofilm forming bacterial strain can cause serious infections to humans, sometimes developed to epidemics, some of them resist almost all known conventional antibiotics also biofilm formation increase the resistance of bacteria to treatment. Worldwide research is conducted to find an alternative therapy to bacterial & biofilm infections rather than conventional antibiotics. Mauriporin a multifunctional peptide that was extracted and identified from the venom derived cDNA library of the scorpion Androctonus mauritanicus. This book describes a master research in which antimicrobial activities of Mauriporin was characterized. Mauriporin shows a potent antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities against range of gram positive and gram negative bacterial strains in which some of them are multidrug resistance. All these result show that Mauriporin has a considerable potential for therapeutics application as a novel drug targeted multidrug resistance bacterial strain.
