Everyone conversant with the big oil concerns is aware of the enormity of the havocs they can inflict on their hosts and their environments, if left unchecked. Niger-Delta region of Nigeria is however a special case of a region recklessly being plundered by some conscienceless mega oil companies, unfortunately with the contrivance of successive Nigerian governments. Nigeria having lapsed into sole dependence on oil economy sees herself at the mercy of the oil companies to the detriment of the oil producing areas. This has led to a serious conspiracy against the communities hosting the oil companies. As a result of the marriage of convenience between the successive Nigerian governments and the oil giants, the Niger-Delta and its people are being ravaged without regards to their human dignity. These ridicules, controversies and contrivances are what the autor of this book investigated, examining them under the backdrop of Ethics. It is the hope of the author to add to the amount of literature that has studied the situation of the Niger-Delta people and their environment. The author wishes that Nigerian governments should rise up to their responsibilities of proctecting their people.
