The first chapter of the book is devoted to the short review of Slovenian music from its beginnings to this day, followed by the chapter on one of the oldest predecessors of the flute - the small flute made from the bone of a cave bear, which was found only on Slovenian territory. A lot has been written about Slovenian flutists, but finding the right information about certain flutists requires going through a lot of books and websites. Ultimately, Slovenian flutists were the first ones who performed the compositions written by Slovenian composers, therefore, it is appropriate to place them side by side with the composers who have written for the flute. These are the key chapters of the book, followed by the chapter on Slovenian music education and the flute, and chapters on Aulos - the bulletin of the Slovenian Flute Society, and the International Flute Festival in Slovenia.
Flutist Gasper Dolgan (1988) studied at the Kunstuniversität Graz, Austria, and completed his studies in class of prof. Eszter Alföldy-Boruss. After graduating, he enrolled in postgraduate studies by the solo flutist of Vienna Philharmonic, prof. Dieter Flury and graduated with honours in 2015. He is currently teaching the flute in his hometown.
