The circular loop antenna is used in a wide range of applications. The performance of the loop antenna is affected by nearby conducting objects, which may be modeled as a body of revolution. The close proximity of such bodies may have a significant effect on antenna properties. Therefore, it is desirable to be able to analyze characteristics of the loop near these bodies to avoid their undesirable effects. On the other hand, it may be desirable to design a structure composed of a loop antenna with a body to improve the antenna performance. This research is dealing with developing a hybrid procedure that can be used to study the radiation and scattering problem of a thin wire circular loop antenna placed coaxially relative to a conducting body of revolution. The solution of the problem is based on the application of the EFIE formulation, the numerical Green´s function approach for bodies of revolution and the well known theory of thin wire circular loop antennas. The technique introduced in this study should help graduates students, researchers in the field of antennas, and antenna designer to analyze and design a loop/body antenna in a unified approach with a wide range of choices.
