Pre-University Paper from the year 2014 in the subject American Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 1+, , language: English, abstract: The reason why I chose the topic "The prohibition of cannabis and the effect on the Paper and Pharmaceutical Industry in the USA" is that a lot of people don´t know the actual reason why cannabis was prohibited in the United States back in the 1930s and 40s. It is a common fact that smoking marihuana can lead to a seizure of unrestrained indulgence.

However this was not the actual reason why people tried to ban cannabis in America. In this research paper I am going to answer the central question what the deciding reason was that cannabis was prohibited in the USA. Furthermore I am going to work out the effects on the paper- and pharmaceutical Industry.

First I am going to describe what cannabis actually is and how it is used as a natural resource. Then I am going to discuss under what influence cannabis was prohibited in the USA. Finally I try to find a proper way to deal with the situation and have a look at the future for the cannabis industry.
