Joan van Emden was Director of the Jove Centre, a consultancy specializing in technical writing and presentations. She was also a visiting lecturer at the University of Reading, UK, speaking regularly at conferences. She has written a number of books about communication issues and continues her involvement with editing and public speaking.

Lucinda Becker is Professor of Pedagogy in English Literature at the University of Reading, UK. She is also a professional trainer, developing and delivering courses in communication, presentation, management techniques and job-searching skills.
