Slovenians are playing an important role in the world of saxophone nowadays. How is it possible for such a small country, with a population of only two million people to put Slovenia on the map of the saxophone in the world? How did Slovenians developed such a respected saxophone culture? With the ambitiousness of a few enthusiasts at the second half of the twentieth century, Slovenia took a leading role in development of the saxophone in this part of Europe. Those outstanding pioneers did not put their homeland just on the world map of saxophone, but on the world map of music. They have established strong foundations and a prestigious reputation for many young and aspiring musical interpreters. The author drafted informations about the history of the saxophone playing in Slovenia, their music educational system, their most meritorious saxophonists and collaborations between them. Additionally, the Slovenian composers and their compositions are presented in an historical overview.
