´Spirituelle Kompetenz´ in der Ausbildung zum evangelischen Pfarrer
Spirituality has emerged as a new phenomenon in the training of Protestant pastors since the turn of the millennium. The qualitative analysis of current training standards in Switzerland, Germany and Austria shows: In contrast to previous texts, the present guidelines of all churches mention spirituality. They address spirituality in a functional perspective with regard to the future professional task.Linking spirituality and functionality is a particular trait of Protestant training in the German-speaking world that is unknown in other denominations. It holds a potential for conflict because spirituality is almost a counterpoint to functionality. The author addresses this conflict by drawing on Schleiermacher´s distinction between effective and the presentational action.
