The picture book, by author Anne Booth and illustrator Sam Usher, is a retelling of the Nativity story, showing how Jesus, Mary and Joseph became refugees from Herod´s soldiers as they make their way to safety in Egypt.

Refuge is one of the books I am most proud of. Anne´s story, complemented by Sam´s beautiful illustrations, is a simple way to help children understand what it might mean to be a refugee by linking it to a story that is familiar to so many of us, particularly as we begin to think about Christmas.

Sam Usher geboren 1984, studierte Illustration in Bristol. Wenn er nicht zeichnet, spielt er Klavier oder reitet auf dem Pferd aus. Am liebsten isst er Käse und Kuchen und trinkt Tee dazu. Heute lebt Sam Usher in London.
