Buenos Aires, 1976. Osvaldo Ferrero, a distinguished doctor, and his wife Yolanda escape the city with their daughters, sensible Julieta and wilful Graciela, who is nineteen and madly in love. On their return, the Argentine military stages a coup. Friends disappear overnight, and Osvaldo is forced to flee to Europe. She has contributed to the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Guardian, Independent and Sunday Times Magazine among others, and was a reporter and an editor at the International New York Times. She is the author of War and Photography, and the novel Hinterland, first published by Bloomsbury in 2012. She divides her time between London and Paris.
