Margaret Atwood, geboren 1939 in Ottawa, ist eine der wichtigsten Autorinnen Kanadas. Sie wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet, u. a. mit dem Booker Prize, dem kanadischen Giller Prize und mit dem Prinz-von- Asturien-Preis (2008),mit dem Nelly-Sachs-Preis (2009) und dem PEN Pinter Prize (2016).
Sie lebt mit ihrer Familie in Toronto.
