Why do (mostly) women work as domestic workers? From what social backgrounds do they come? What are their educational backgrounds and aspirations? What challenges and options do they have? What benefits and problems come with the employer-worker relationship? Based on these questions, I started to look for more information about domestic workers in Mexico, particularly in Mexico City. This book aims to shed light on living realities of paid domestic workers in Mexico City from an intersectional perspective. It will focus on the challenges and possibilities in different areas of domestic workers´ lives. It also recounts the political movements connected to this economic sector, as well as its successes, like founding a trade union, and its fight for a legal base.
