Modern Customs administrations have recognized that streamlining and simplifying clearance procedures is of benefit to their importers, their exporters and their national economies. To achieve the goal of offering efficient and effective clearance procedures, while continuing to maintain their traditional duties of revenue collection and enforcement activities, Customs administrations are increasingly introducing simplified procedures. In order to ensure that these are applied in an effective manner, the procedures have to be reviewed and updated at regular intervals.
