Measuring the movement of fingers is quite difficult. The challenge lies within the fact that basic EMG measurement of any muscle in the human body is rarely repeatable and usable for medical usage. Only fields of robotics and prosthetics are making strides towards simplifying and unifying the design of the devices and also allowing for accurate and precise readings. Accurately measuring an EMG signal should be a possibility, and that is why this project focuses on making a therapeutic device with that core functionality. The goal of this project was to develop a method to measure the finger movement and the position of each finger using only electromyography. The electrodes were placed on the forearm without inhibiting the user´s movement. Furthermore, the proper placement of the electrodes has been investigated. Placing the electrodes correctly (at the right spot on the forearm) was the key to successful measurements with the given circuit.
