Properly designed and utilized computer based cognitive tools enhance the learning and teaching process in & out of the classroom. Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) act as intelligent partners to empower explorative experiments, intensify the learner´s cognition and facilitate the teaching process in engineering courses. In this book, after summarizing the pedagogical and technical fundamentals of implementation of CAS, we put forward the techniques of utilizing an open source CAS "Maxima" in electrostatics courses. The aim of the study is aiming to encourage the non-programmer users, students and instructors utilizing CAS-Maxima in engineering courses. It includes many detailed sample applications for calculations in electrostatics performed with Maxima. The book can be used as a course book in computer-lab sessions of engineering courses.
