Juan Grimm gilt als Vater der Landschaftsarchitektur in Chile. Seine Entwürfe, die stets die Erhabenheit der Natur unterstreichen und die Umgebung miteinbeziehen, arbeiten vor allem mit einheimischer Flora und schaffen doch atemberaubende neue Landschaftsstrukturen. Als wichtigster Landschaftsdesigner Südamerikas hat er beinahe 1000 Hektar Gärten sowie private und öffentliche Parks in Chile, Argentinien, Peru und Uruguay entworfen und gebaut, darunter die Gärten des Bahá´í Tempels in Santiago und eines Benediktinerklosters.

Mit Zeichnungen, Fotografien, Interviews und ausführlichen Begleittexten stellt die Publikation Grimms Schaffen vor: seine Arbeitsweise, seine Inspirationsquellen, seinen künstlerischen Anspruch. Ausgewählte Beispiele von kleinen Gärten bis zu großen Parks illustrieren Grimms Entwicklung über 30 Jahre. So wird nicht nur Grimms Arbeit, sondern auch das Model von Landschaftsarchitektur in Chile präsentiert, für das sein Werk beispielhaft ist.

Juan Grimm is considered the father of landscape architecture in Chile. His designs persistently underscore the sublimities of nature and incorporate the environments surrounding them. Although he works mainly with local flora, he creates breathtakingly new landscape textures. As South Americas most important landscape architect, he has designed and built nearly one thousand hectares of garden, as well as private and public parks in Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Uruguay, including the gardens of the Baháí Temple in Santiago and of a Benedictine abbey.Featuring drawings, photographs, interviews, and extensive companion essays, this book presents Grimms body of work, his methods, his sources of inspiration, and his artistic aims. Selected examples, ranging from small gardens to large parks, illustrate Grimms development over the course of thirty years.
