This research paper focused on how indigenous leadership perspective can be integrated to spheres of government in order to strengthen local governance with specific reference to King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality (KSDLM). The paper further argued the different leadership perspectives the Western Leadership Perspective and the Indigenous Leadership Perspectives. The paper also discussed the partnership between Tradional Leaders and Municipalities in terms section 5 of the Traditional Leadership and Governance Framework Act 2003. In terms Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act 32 of 2000) and Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act 117 of 1998) which give powers and functions of local government institutions to councilors or municipal officials. All of the rules, principles, and doctrines of the institution of traditional leadership apply in the new dispensation only in so far as they are rules, principles and doctrines that would survive the scrutiny of the present society when measured against their compliance with the requirements of human dignity, equality and freedom.
