The emergence of multidrug resistance among Gram-negative bacilli to antibiotics specially beta-lactams (such as carbapenems which are often used as last resort antibiotics) is increasingly reported during the last years due to many mechanisms mainly the production of a variety of beta-lactamase enzymes including carbapenemases which cause difficulty in treating bacterial diseases leading to increase in morbidity and mortality rates. Wound infections can be caused by carbapenemase producing Gram-negative bacilli and difficulties of treating the infection can lead to serious complications . Carbapenemase producers can cause out breaks in health care facilities by transmission from patient to patient via different ways (such as hand contacts and environmental contamination) causing significant infections in compare to non carbapenemase producers. here we will highlight the importance of implementation of an effective infection control strategy to prevent and decrease the prevalence of the infections with these super bugs to safe life`s.
