African trypanosomiasis is a devastating disease to both animals and humans in Sub-saharan Africa. To successfully control the disease, much understanding of the biology of trypanosomes and their vectors is imperative for scientists to establish control strategies. Among many objectives, researchers need to study survival mechanisms of parasites in the host, screen compounds for treatment, study parasite evasion mechanisms of host immunity and chemotherapeutics resistance. Nowadays, in vivo studies have become expensive coupled with animal welfare ethics. Therefore, in vitro studies gain importance to enabling scientists to conveniently conduct their researches. Omarch, Geofrey
Geofrey Omarch graduated Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (2006) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania) and Masters of Science in Tropical Animal Health (2010) from Institute of Tropical Medicine (Antwerp, Belgium). He is currently a Senior Veterinary Research Officer at Tanzania Veterinary Laboratory Agency interested in drugs development.
