This research provides a critical and systematic analysis of learner adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) for learning in secondary schools in South Africa. Although adoption of ICT for learning in secondary schools around the world show a successful integration in the classroom, there is little attention or consideration that has been paid in the learner adoption of ICT for learning in the secondary schools of South Africa. The aim of this research is to investigate the learner adoption of ICT as a tool for learning and research. The learner adopts ICT tool when they see a potential to enhance their learning performance or ability. Furthermore, the research will also investigate factors that influence learner intention to adopt ICT for learning. The literature review about the adoption of ICT for learning and factors influence learner intention to adopt ICT, the search was conducted in five electronic databases. The academic articles were reviewed to see whether they contain any relevant information about the adoption of ICT for learning and factors affecting learner intention to adopt or reject ICT for learning.
