Dr. Bergasa is Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in gastroenterology at the State University of New York at Downstate in Brooklyn, New York, and her clinical and basic hepatology research training at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Bergasa is recognized internationally for her research on pruritus in liver disease.
