Die Skulptur erlebt in den letzten 20 Jahren, seit die Theorie den Begriff und das Medium selbst in Frage stellt, eine noch nie dagewesene Renaissance als künstlerische Ausdrucksform. Die Publikation sammelt Essays, Statements, Interviews, Briefe, Gedichte und andere Texte und Aussagen von Künstlern aus aller Welt zu Skulpturkonzepten von 1990 bis heute. Abbildungen von Werken der beteiligten Künstler zeigen, wie facettenreich und vielfältig die Skulptur der Gegenwart ist. In drei großen Kapiteln mit jeweils einer kurzen Einführung versehen werden skulpturale Arbeiten und ihre Entstehungsprozesse vorgestellt, unterschiedliche Spielarten der Figuration gezeigt und Orte sowie Räume zeitgenössischer Skulptur präsentiert. Over the past twenty years, since theory has begun scrutinizing the concept of sculpture itself, the genre has been experiencing a new renaissance as an artistic form of expression. This publication assembles essays, statements, interviews, letters, poems, and other kinds of texts by artists from all around the world on the various concepts of sculpture from 1990 to the present. Illustrations of the contributing artists works show the multiple facets and diversity of contemporary sculpture. In three lengthy chapters and a brief introduction, the book presents works of sculpture, the processes used to create them, different kinds of figuration, and exhibition venues for contemporary sculpture.
